TF175: TERRAFIRMA 4 STAGE ADJUSTABLE SHOCK ABSORBER – +2” LONGER - REARDEFENDER 90 / 110 / 130, DISCOVERY 1 & RANGE ROVER CLASSICFITTING INSTRUCTIONSNote: TF rear shocks are not supplied with replacement upper washers & nut1. Put the car into gear and apply the hand brake, loosen rear wheel nuts, raise vehicle on a jack and thensupport the rear axle on axle stands.2. Remove the rear wheels.3. Undo the nut on the bottom of the shock absorber remove all bushes and washers.4. Undo the nut on the top shock absorber chassis mount and then pull the shock absorber off of the mountingremoving all bushes and washers.5. Fit the new shock over the top chassis mounting, with the new washers and bushes in the correct order andthe correct way around, the convex side of the curved washers must be against the rubber bush, and thentighten the top nut.6. Fit the upper bottom washers and bush, before pulling the lower part of the shock absorber down through theaxle mounting bracket *. Then fit the lower bottom washers and bush and the securing nut, Tighten thebottom securing nut.7. When both sides are done refit wheels lower the car off of the axle stands and torque the wheel nuts correctly.8. 4-stage adjustable shocks are designed with an adjustable knob at the lower end of the body that allows youto configure your ride depending on your needs and your desired comfort. No.1 is the softest comfort settingincreasing to No. 4 for the firmest sport setting.• IMPORTANT – It is essential to remove the two metal bush cups found on post 1994 Defendersand Discovery rear axles at the lower axle shock mounting bracket, this will allow unrestrictedmovement of the lower shock mount.• Ensure the two domed machined top mounting washers are fitted the correct way around with thedomed surface against the rubber bush.• Allowing the flat side of the top shock washers to bind against the shock absorber eye can causepremature shock failure and invalidate the warranty• Allowing the shock bush washers to contact the metal bush cup can cause premature shock failureand invalidate the warranty
